The Rise of VR Technology in Gaming
The gaming industry is one of the most fast-paced industries in the world. Everything changes so fast. Just think about it, if you have a look at a game that was released 20, 15 or even 10 years ago, it will look so old and dated, it will be hard to even remember that there was a time when that game seemed so advanced and modern.
Let’s take for example sports games, particularly the greatest EA Sports franchises. The first NBA of 2K was released in year 2K (2000) and the series have come a long way since. Just compare the first NBA 2K with the 2K18, or even 2K10 and you will notice a staggering difference, both when it comes to the features, as well as the graphics. Everything looks more realistic in later versions.
Can you imagine having to go back to the earlier versions of the game, where the movements were far from realistic, it was impossible to make a solid screen, and blocking a shot looked completely unreal. Moreover, in the past most people played in single player mode, and if they wanted to play with a friend they had to invite them over, whereas nowadays you can play online against anybody, even if your gaming partner is located on the other side of the globe.
NBA 2K VR?
Games are becoming more and more realistic and one would have to wonder what would be the next step, what can we expect next? It may seem hard to tell at this point, but judging by the last few years, one would have to assume that it would be virtual reality.
Most game developers are already trying to develop VR versions of their popular games, and even though the VR gaming industry is still in its infancy we can see how it can develop further in the future.
For example, an NBA 2K VR edition was released back in 2016, but the project is still at its very beginning. The VR version wasn’t a main game, but a collection of mini games. We can expect them to release a VR version of the main NBA 2K games in the near future, and hopefully, in few years’ time we’ll have an advanced VR NBA 2K game.
VR Slots
Another industry where the technological advantages have completely changed the scope is the online casino industry. One quick comparison between slots that were released, say, 10 years ago and latest online games will show how much the industry has progressed in the past few years.
Again, as with conventional games, VR might get massive with slots as well. Some of the leading online slots developers have already released trial versions of VR games and they have announced that they are going to invest time, resources and efforts into creating more sophisticated and more advanced online slots.
