Best Game Releases 2019
Out of the many excellent game titles that are in the works for 2019, we have selected three from across the spectrum of genres. We made our selection not because of how many likes or views on YouTube a game has, but because we like to trust our gut feeling. Our selection is informative of games that look out the box, have a theme that resonates with a specific mood and pack high levels of overall awesomeness.
Psychonauts 2
A title that managed to receive $3.3 million US through a crowdfunding campaign is bound to deliver what it has promised to. How far the developers are on their progress can be seen from Psychonauts 2 videos on Youtube. The world in which the game is set is absolutely amazing. There are stunning landscapes, radiant skies, rivers, strange otherworldly vegetation, animals and more. If you enjoy getting lost in such a world you too should look forward to this release. Just to brush on the plot, Psychonauts 2 features a creature called Raz who is nimble, dexterous and has psychic abilities. This enables him to enter the minds of others, to levitate, teleport and other amazing skills. You can imagine what this leads to unprecedented amounts of fun as you navigate Raz into a huge and unknown planet.
Age of Empires IV
This is one of the most complete strategy games that lifted this genre up by inspiring many developers to work on similar games, including Starcraft. This installment of the Age of Empires series brings the game closer to the present point in history, after starting from the ancient empires and moving forward in time. Now, armchair generals around the world will be able to control the armies of the colonial powers of the world, as well as tribal coalitions. There isn’t much more detail, but judging from the cinematic trailer this is what we can conclude. Also we don’t have a release date as of yet, but it looks like it will be either late 2018 or early 2019. Being a Microsoft game, it should become available on Xbox besides PC.
The Surge 2
Step into a future dystopia where technology has produced insanely destructive weapons that are available to heroes and villains alike. In Surge 2 you are in the shoes of Warren – someone wakes up in an unknown place and needs to survive. He does that well by operating his exoskeleton to fight nasty mechanized things that we don’t know if they are humans, robots or both. Surge 2 is high octane one on one melee fight in which Warren and his opponents are using improvised weapons that can deal insane damage. As you progress through the plot you will face humongous machines that want to crush your face, nimble robots that fight like ninjas and flying and low-lying droids that can shoot a laser through your chest. This game is planned for release in 2019 and we are looking forward to the drop date.
